IS THIS SO GOOD SO MANY YEARS LATER?! I STILL think that NO DJ is fucking with this. The drums, technical scratching, sampling genius. The story that Shadow is conveying. No words can even express how i feel about this. UGH!!! EVREMPNDIVACOIC!!

I am moving from the house I am currently in. I know it will be a better move for my family. However, I can’t shake the feeling of being kind of sad that I am leaving. My uncle wants me to tell him how I feel, but how can I possibly do such a thing? It will break his heart if I tell him I don’t want to move.
My aunt has been pushing this move, but she does not understand. I grew up here, over the last 7 years. Through my Junior High and High School graduations and most of my collegiate life. My music tastes have evolved here, my first girlfriend knew this house as her own. She is not connected like I am.
Then, I realize the World is Mine. As well as your’s. And everything in it. And you do not have to stay somewhere if you don’t want to. This song remains one of the cornerstones of Hip-Hop greatness, as well as a mental medicine for my cerebral cortex.
Is great. Mexican Summer is killing it this year. Music has been great and its not even half way through the year yet.

Also, check out my review of the new Savages LP, “Silence Yourself”, here on my Tumblr:
A “New” obesession. And by “new” I mean that I finally took the time out to listen to this great band, that goes by the name of Mazzy Star. Apparently they are back together….year of comebacks man, the FRICKIN year of comebacks.
Oh yeah, enjoy my blog on Tumblr:
That’s different from the last one. This one is about a more joyous time in my life. 2007: after a tough year in high school, I had finally started to see life more positively. This was a good time of spiritual cleansing for me.
I had always been into old school hip-hop, but during this year, my ability to analyze it grew even greater. Out of the myriad of songs I was listening to, OC’s “Word…Life” helped me to understand the art of MC’ing even more, something that went beyond just a “genre” in music. It was something for the street people, a new age folk tradition. This song remains a timeless classic, with the jazzy production (that would sound great if performed live), along with OC’s veteran OG-like fluid flow and commanding cadence.
This is something I feel that I have to share: the Christmas of this year, I received everything I had wanted. Not just material possessions, but also an understanding of a collective conscious. I was young, and while I am only 20, I feel as if that understanding has changed into something different. I cannot explain the feeling of 2007, but whenever I listen to this song, it sure does do a hell of a good job bringing me back to that time.
Word….Life.
Anyways, enough of my ranting, follow me on Tumblr:
It seems as if this is the year of comebacks. My Bloody Valentine, Deerhunter, The Stooges and NOW Boards of Canada and (you guessed it) NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL.
YES. BREATHE. FOR A SECOND. DON’T DIE. INFO BELOW:

All we need now is for The Smiths to get back together….
Also, I do not want to seem annoying, but pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee follow my Tumblr:
It was winter of 2010, right after I finished high school. My grandfather died, I broke up with my girlfriend, couldn’t get into college on time, shit was a mess to be frank. I was listening to a lot of 90′s “alternative” music, a term that has since become a joke. While my other colleagues that graduated were celebrating and having fun in college, I was miserable on cold, dark and dank Staten Island.
There were a couple of things keeping me sane: dancing, my best friends Angelo and Brandon and music. Since that year, my music tastes have grown and evolved at an accelerated rate. While I do not hold every band in high regard like I used to (for example, I love Dirt by Alice in Chains, but I think Facelift has some pretty corny moments), there is one band that still stands out to me. If you have not figured it out by thumbnail, that band is the Smashing Pumpkins.
Looking back on it in retrospect, this band has been a very important one in my life. Not only are their first four albums some of the greatest albums in modern rock, they introduced to my favorite band of all-time, My Bloody Valentine, and for that I am eternally grateful.
If you ask the average Pumpkins’ fans what is the band’s magnum opus, chances are you will hear “Siamese Dream” or “Mellon Collie…”. Indeed, these would be the pratical answers, however, the band’s debut, Gish, is most certainly underrated and a song like “Daydream” shows that. This beautifully mornful acoustic ballad moved me to tears when I first heard it and I still come close to crying when I hear it now. Somehow it just gets better as it ages.
I watched a video of Billy Corgan not too long ago. And while he is still a talented musician, I can tell that he is hurting; hurting from the fact that he knows he was once a part of one of the most prominent and beautiful bands in the recent history of rock music, if not all time. He still uses the Smashing Pumpkins name, but the sound that he is trying to capture ends up being nothing more than a Daydream.
On that note, if you have a tumblr, please check out my music review blog:
